Born on May 18, 1967, in New York City, Rob Base grew up primarily in Harlem after moving there from the Bronx in the fourth grade. It was in Harlem that he met Rodney \u201cSkip\u201d Bryce \u2014 later known as DJ E-Z Rock<\/strong> \u2014 and the two became lifelong friends and musical partners. From an early age, they performed at local block parties and school events, honing their skills in the vibrant New York hip-hop scene of the 1970s and 1980s.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Breakthrough Success: \u201cIt Takes Two\u201d<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

In 1988, Rob Base & DJ E-Z Rock released their breakthrough single \u201cIt Takes Two\u201d<\/strong> on Profile Records. Built around the iconic \u201cYeah, woo!\u201d sample from Lyn Collins\u2019 \u201cThink (About It),\u201d the track was a perfect fusion of hip-hop energy and house music grooves.
